The element of the suit of cups water symbolizes the unconsciousness and feelings, and as such, this suit is all about emotions. The Queen of Cups combines this energy, with an inward focus and calmness.
She is feminine, loving, and kind and has the ability to connect with people on the emotional level. If the queen represents a woman in your life, she will be influential to you and your decisions and does so with the best intentions.
If she shows up in a reading, it might be a sign that you need to find help or connect with others to solve your problems. But before seeking help from others, this Queen advises you to connect and listen to your inner voice. Just like she does.

Queen of Cups Tarot Card Description
The Queen of Cups tarot card depicts a queen sitting on her throne on the ocean shore. Since water is symbolic of feelings, this tells us that she rules the emotional realm.
In her hand, she holds a golden cup. She stares intently into this cup as if to draw knowledge from it.
The fact that she is alone shows us that she has taken this time to think. Her feet are not touching the water, which means she is looking at her feelings and emotions from an outside perspective.
Queen of Cups Tarot Meaning
When the Queen of Cups tarot card appears in a spread, there are two main interpretations.
The first one is the literal interpretation. You have a woman or women in your life that play a significant role in it. This person is supportive, reliable, and helps you reach your full potential.
She is kind and strong and is not afraid to use tough love to push you forward. You should accept this person’s role in your life, as her goal is ultimately to help you.
The crucial second meaning serves as a warning. You must be mindful of the way you are treating others.
Even if you mean no harm, your words and actions can hurt others. Pay close attention to the things you do and say to prevent this.
Money and Career Meaning
In a career reading, the Queen of Cups encourages you to consider whether your job is taking care of your emotional well-being or not. No paycheck is worth your inner peace.
If you discover that your job is making you unhappy or using up all of your energy, you must walk away. There are plenty of other opportunities on the horizon for you.
In a finance reading, the Queen of Cups bodes well for your financial state. She reminds you to be vigilant in spending and saving money for long-term success. Overall, though, money won’t be your focus at this time in your life.
Love and Relationships Meaning
The Queen of Cups in a love and relationship meaning can be a person or a feeling. If it is a person, it indicates a nurturing woman that puts work into her relationship. This person might be you or your partner.
No matter which of you it is, the indication is a positive one. Reliability, compassion, and support are all things that will be offered in this relationship.
If the card represents emotions, the association is also positive. In your relationship, you will be feeling secure and happy. You know your heart is being taken care of and you feel valued. You and your partner share passion and love, and that aren’t changing any time soon.
If you are single, a new romance is on the horizon. The suitor that you meet will be feminine and strong. They will also be encouraging, warm, and affectionate.
This person may not be overly conversational, but that is only because they are shy. Give them a chance, and you will be pleased with the outcome!
Health and Spirituality Meaning
In a health reading, the Queen of Cups can denote special care that is being given to you. This might come in the form of a nurse or a supportive family member or partner.
You may be feeling under the weather, but you can rely on this support system to hold you up. With their help, you will be feeling back to normal in no time at all.
Queen of Cups Reversed
The Queen of Cups reversed doesn’t bring a positive message. When this card comes up in a tarot reading, it stands for emotional immaturity.
You need to pay close attention to the way you react to situations in your life. For example, when you argue with someone, you may be tempted to resort to physical violence.
You must take a closer look here and realize that this will not solve your problems. Communication will do much more to resolve the issues that ail you.
The Queen of Cups reversed also encourages you to let go of grudges and hate in your heart. No matter how badly you have been hurt, you must not allow it to make you bitter or vengeful.
This will not serve you well and actually, leads to a miserable existence. The good news is it is never too late to shape up your habits. If you recognize that you have a problem, you can take the proper steps to fix it.
If you ignore these vengeful and bitter emotions, they will eventually reach a boiling point. This will lead to increased stress levels, which will affect your ability to deal with everyday problems.
Instead, try to listen to your inner feelings and emotions. How are you feeling? What caused these emotions? What will help to make you feel happier and more joyful again?
Don’t judge yourself while exploring these emotions. The Queen of Cups calls you to listen to your inner feelings and accept and respect them in the process.
Queen of Cups: Yes or No
The Queen of Cups signifies compassion, love, and caring for others. It is an overall positive card and is associated with support and commitment. For these reasons, the answer to your yes or no question is yes. This is especially true for relationship questions.

Name of My reading was Split Decision. I pulled 1st six of cups and 2nd queen of cups both upright …. what does that mean exactly?

Hello Savanna,
Thank you for your question. The suit of Cups is all about love, emotions, and relationships. The Six of Cups wants you to handle your memories; it wants you to look back (especially in childhood); think about your past love. Whereas the Queen of Cups wants you to pay more attention to yourself and your feeling. This card also represents a calm, romantic, and affectionate woman. Summing up, the spread might mean your current feelings vs. your past. Anyways, always listen to your intuition ✨
Hope this helps!

I pulled out my deck after a couple of years due to having a sudden urge to do a spread. When i pulled my deck out, the Queen of Chalices and The Wheel were already facing up. I took this as a sign that everything that I am working for will pay off. Then I also wasn’t sure why these cards were face up after not touching for 4+ years..
