When you think of a knight from Medieval times, what do you envision? Perhaps you picture a chivalrous man in shining armor sweeping a damsel off of her feet.

Or maybe you think of a brave and daring fighter riding off into battle. Both of these descriptions fit the Knight of Wands, one of the most courageous men of the Tarot.

Still, it’s essential to keep in mind that every rose has its thorn. Just like all Court Cards, this Knight brings both warnings as well as blessings depending on the situation.

Knight of Wands Tarot Description

To fully understand the Knight of Wands tarot card meaning, we will first take a look at the illustration, colors, and symbolism of this Wands card.

knight of wands tarot card

On the face of this Minor Arcana card, a Knight sits on top of a horse who is obviously rearing for action.

Instead of a sword, this valiant warrior is holding a wand, symbolizing both his confidence and lack of fear. His horse colored a flame-like orange, which represents his heroic nature.

The look on his face is both determined and self-assured. It’s pretty clear that the Knight and his stead are ready for action.

Other cards in your reading will determine whether the Knight represents you or someone else in your life. Just know that he or she is highly capable and is ready to bring a sweeping change to every area of your life.

Knight of Wands Tarot Meaning

In the traditional position, the Upright Knight of Wands tells you to brace yourself for the good times ahead. Although most of what is coming your way is positive, it’s going to be a wild ride.

This minor court card is all about action, and he encourages you to take the same stance. Although you shouldn’t rush through this time in your life, don’t be a ‘sitting duck’ either.

Things might have been blocking you recently, and you have been unable to truly move forward on your path in life. There will be new opportunities coming your way, with your hard work and positivity having a big impact on your life. A big change might be on the horizon, but this will be the right thing for you!

Prepare to make moves and shake things up so that your next twelve months are more exciting and rewarding than your last. Follow what your soul is telling you, and move towards a better future.

Money and Career

The Knight of Wands in a career perspective represents the deep desire to have it all. Money, success, property, love, you name it. If you had a magic wand that you could wave and receive your deepest desires, what would you wish for?

Well, the bad news is: magic wands only exist in the Tarot and fairy tales. The good news is you already have the power inside of you to make your dreams come true.

A lot of times, the Knight of Wands represents a move. This could be connected to a career change or might pose a much-needed change of scenery, the Knight suggests doing this with haste, but remember his tendency to ride off into battle without his sword.

You’ll want to be much smarter than that. Everything must be planned, even if things don’t go accordingly. You want to make sure that you’re not jumping into a situation without thoroughly weighing the pros and cons.

Love and Relationships

Unless the Lovers card or other supportive cards are present, the Knight of Wands isn’t a card you’ll want to draw in a love reading. Although knights are more mature than pages, they still have the tendency to ‘love’em and leave’em.

If your Knight in shining armor hasn’t yet finished sowing his (or her) wild oats, the relationships may be stuck at a stagnant place regardless of what you do.

This doesn’t mean you should give up on dating or your relationship. Instead, work on communication and making sure that both parties are on the same page. Doing so will allow your love to grow and blossom — the results: a match made in heaven.

Health and Spirituality

When it comes to your health and physical body, the Knight of Wands is a good omen. If you’ve been stressed, depressed, or just exhausted, a boost of energy is headed your way.

Don’t question why or how you’ve received this second wind; instead, use this time wisely to improve your health and mental state. You’ll need strength and clarity for what lies ahead.

Knight of Wands Reversed

With Court cards, the ‘reversed’ representation is usually just the negative spin on the traits that the card already possesses.

For example, the Knight of Wands symbolizes charm. However, too much charm can come across as a superficial act.

Do these personality traits relate to you, or more than likely, someone to whom you are presently connected? It is time to be wary of those around you who seem a bit too egotistical. They may be all talk, and might let you down!

The reversed Knight of Wands can also represent a creative block. There is something missing in regard to your passion, and this may be really affecting your progress. However, as the Knight of Wands is a minor card, don’t worry too much. This creative block will soon go away and you will be back on track.

Knight of Wands: Yes or No

Your answer is yes. Period. With the Knight of Wands on your side, the question isn’t really “yes or no?” but when and how.

Tackle your decision or next move with energy and focus. Embrace the daring persona of this Knight and keep your eye on the target. Soon you’ll have whatever you desire in your hand.

Knight of Wands and Astrology

The Knight of Wands is connected with two zodiac signs – Scorpio and Sagittarius. Scorpios are water signs and are passionate and creative individuals. They are bold of character and linked to the planet Pluto.

A Sagittarius is often outgoing with a strong sense of adventure. Like the rest of the fire signs, a Sagittarius is passionate and creative.

Important Card Combinations

In Tarot, certain cards appearing together have an important meaning. Let’s look at some important card combinations for the Knight of Wands.

The Knight of Wands and the Lovers Card

As mentioned above, the Knight of Wands isn’t always a good card for love and romance. However, when he marries the Lovers card and shows up in a reading, his personality is totally different.

This usually occurs when a man (represented by the Knight) has met his match. His playboy ways and tendency to get bored and bounce will be a thing of the past once the Knight has met his soulmate.

The Knight of Wands and the King of Pentacles

Prepare yourself for an improvement in your finances. When paired with the Knight, the King of Pentacles ushers in both success related to money and overall stability.

If you are not where you would like to be with your finances or credit, don’t give in to anxiety. Crunch the numbers and come up with a solid plan for success. Don’t wait for tomorrow, though. Start today.

The Knight of Wands and the Ace of Pentacles

Do you want to quit your day job? Well, if the Knight and the Ace of Pentacles fall together in a reading, it might not be such a bad idea.

If you have a hobby that you’d like to make a profit off of, why not get the ball rolling? There are no guarantees, but the likelihood of being successful at such a venture is much higher than you might suspect.

The Knight of Wands and the Hermit

The Knight combined with the Hermit indicates that soon you will reach new heights, a pinnacle if you will, either at work or something that you are passionate about. Although it is important to create and strive toward new goals, it is important to celebrate small successes and milestones as well.

Be proud of yourselves and your accomplishments as you check things off of your ‘bucket list.’ The Knight of Wands represents the best parts of you–the you who is both courageous and capable, ready to take on challenge after challenge.

The Knight of Wands can represent a person. This person is dynamic and confident but can be pretty impulsive. Could this be an issue in your love life?

    Hi Lori,

Definitely! When the suit of Cups shows up together with the Knight of Wands, it usually indicates a satisfying adventure of the heart. More specifically, the Ten of Cups and the Knight of Wands represents embarking on a journey with someone close to you. This can be in the form of a holiday, traveling to another place, or even a spiritual journey. This journey will leave you both feeling more fulfilled and happy.

Sending you lots of sparks of joy ✨
